Award Day, 2024

This week Han Kang was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for 2024. She has been elusive in interviews with some thinking that she might not even accept the award, but she did and was able to receive it from the King of Sweden himself.

This woman won a big award this holiday season, not a leg lamp.

There have been a lot of negative focus towards her native Korea this last month and hopefully people have been able to read her works to see through the authoritarian attempt to upset democracy. Maybe that was part of why she accepted the prize, maybe she was going to anyway and it was just a coincidence. Either way, quite the coincidence.
